Race Report

RACE-5 THE BERRIGAN RATING 100-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (182)
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored. The Stewards inquired into the start of the race. Evidence was taken from the Starter Mr. P K Mou and Jockey LEI KIN MENG the rider of GOLDEN BULLET in the presence of Trainer K C TSE. After considering the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that as the barrier gates were released GOLDEN BULLET turned its head to the side inconveniencing it from jumping. As a result GOLDEN BULLET took no part in the race. As this incident had occurred as a result of the GOLDEN BULLET’s action, it was deemed to be a starter by the Stewards and correct weight was declared. Before being entered to race again, GOLDEN BULLET will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on two occasions.
SEA OF JEWELS (K H CHIO) which jumped awkwardly was bumped by HAPPY FOREVER (L DUARTE) which shifted out.
VERY GOOD (APPRENTICE M CANGAS) and LET GO (H LAM) came together on jumping away.
Near the 1000 metres DR ZHIVAGO (F DURSO) and BEAUTIFUL SUN (P H CHAN) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened by FRENCH GENERAL (W H TSE) which shifted in. BEAUTIFUL SUN then over raced for a short distance.
CLUB HOUSE (R J PEREZ) and MR SPORTSMAN (R SILVERA) raced wide throughout.
SUPREME BEST (K W LEONG) hung in under pressure in the home straight and as a result its rider had to stop riding and straighten on a several occasions.
Inside the final 200 metres NITTAN'S DELIGHT (APPRENTICE B YAMZON) shifted ground outwards under pressure and in doing so hampered DR ZHIVAGO (F DURSO).
Passing the 200 metres VERY GOOD (APPRENTICE M CANGAS) was disappointed for a run when there was insufficient room between HAPPY FOREVER (L DUARTE) and BEAUTIFUL SUN (P H CHAN) which shifted out slightly under pressure. VERY GOOD was then held up for a short distance.
Subsequent to the race, swab samples were taken from GOLDEN STAR (M NUNES) and DR ZHIVAGO (F DURSO).
