RACE-5 THE BRANTOME RATING 65-45 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (540)
SELL IN MAY (R J PEREZ) jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
ORIENTAL MOBILE (M NUNES) and TOP HERO (C F CHAN) jumped away awkwardly.
LUMINICO (W T PAO) and ELEGANCE CLASSIC (H LAM) were slow to begin.
Near the 700 metres GOLDEN BULLET (K H YU) had to be steadied when attempting a narrow run between TEST OF TIME (APPRENTICE B YAMZON) and GAUTENG (K S TAM).
Near the 600 metres ELEGANCE CLASSIC (H LAM) and TEST OF TIME (APPRENTICE B YAMZON) were tightened for room between BEST QUALITY BOARD (P H CHAN) and GAUTENG (K S TAM) which shifted in. In this incident ELEGANCE CLASSIC (H LAM) had to be steadied and TEST OF TIME (APPRENTICE B YAMZON) had to be checked. Jockey K S TAM the rider of GAUTENG was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. He was fined the sum of HK$3,000 in lieu of 2 racemeetings. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 10:55pm.
ORIENTAL MOBILE (M NUNES), SUPERB ALBERT (K W LEONG), LOCAL TALENT (K HERCOCK) and GOLDEN BULLET (K H YU) all raced wide throughout.
Subsequent to the race, swab samples were taken from UMAGUM (W SMITH) and GAUTENG (K S TAM).
