Race Report

RACE-2 CHAIRMAN'S CHALLENGE CUP (GROUP 1) (TURF) OPEN 1200 METRES (319)
On route to the barriers TRON KINGDOM (K M CHIN) dislodged its rider. TRON KINGDOM was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Jockey K M CHIN was also examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
After being placed in the barriers HAPPY BROTHERS (Y T CHENG) became fractious and dislodged its rider. HAPPY BROTHERS was then examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Jockey Y T CHENG was also examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
Shortly after the start ECLAIR FANTASTIC (J MCDONALD) and GOLDEN BULLET (K W LEONG) bumped. ECLAIR FANTASTIC then shifted back in and bumped REGAL FLAME (R B WOODWORTH).
At the 700 metres GOLDEN BULLET (K W LEONG) which was racing keenly had to steadied away from the heels of FELSHAM (C F CHAN) which shifted in. As a result MACAU WARRIOR (W T PAO) and HAPPY BROTHERS (Y T CHENG) which were following were hampered and lost ground. Shortly after GOLDEN BULLET (K W LEONG) continued to race erratically, shifted in and bumped AUGUST STAR (G FAUCON).
Rounding the turn near the 600 metres ECLAIR FANTASTIC (J MCDONALD) hung out. A post race veterinary examination of ECLAIR FANTASTIC revealed that the horse was severely lame in the right foreleg. ECLAIR FANTASTIC will not be permitted to race for 11 days and in addition will be required to pass a barrier trial followed by a veterinary examination before being entered to race again.
MACAU WARRIOR (W T PAO) and GOLDEN BULLET (K W LEONG) raced wide rounding the home turn.
Jockey F DURSO the rider of HAPPY GLADIATOR was fined the sum of HK$1,000 under MJC Rule 14 (xvii)(a) for a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
