Race Report

RACE-4 THE LEVIN RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (344)
On jumping FELSHAM (A CALDER) and BEST SPORT (APPRENTICE M CANGAS) bumped.
POWER PURDEY (M NUNES), MR BEST (W H TSE) and DYNASTY TREASURE (T PEREIRA) raced wide rounding the turn.
Jockey K H YU the rider of MACAU KING pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that rounding the home turn he permitted his mount to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of CHESSY (K F CHOI) resulting in that horse being awkwardly placed close to the heels of POWER PURDEY (M NUNES) and having to be checked. Jockey K H YU was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting of 6th May 2011 and fined the sum of HK$20,000 in lieu of 2 additional racemeetings. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 6:35pm .
Over the concluding stages REGAL FLAME (F DURSO) shifted ground outwards under pressure.
When questioned regarding the performance of SMART SUPREME, Jockey K M CHIN stated that the horse was having its first run over the shorter distance of 1200 metres and as the trainer had applied for blinkers, he expected the horse to race well. He said that his mount travelled well throughout, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn his mount was unable to improve his position and in his opinion the horse would be better suited to a firmer track and over a longer distance.
A post race veterinary examination of SMART SUPREME failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
