Race Report

RACE-3 THE LEICESTER RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (530)
KA WANG FORTUNE (L CORRALES) jumped awkwardly.
ELDERLY PARADISE (J LERMYTE) was slow to begin.
Near the 800 metres FLYMASTER (W H TSE) shifted out and in doing so hampered HUNG KONG STAR (W L HO) which in turn shifted out and hampered GEM PRINCE (H LAM).
Rounding the home turn TURQUOISE FAST (K H YU) hung out.
HUNG KONG STAR (W L HO) raced wide rounding the home turn.
Near the 200 metres FLYMASTER (W H TSE) was disappointed for a run between ELDERLY PARADISE (J LERMYTE) and REGAL FLAME (W SMITH) and was steadied and shifted in to improve.
Jockey J LERMYTE the rider of ELDERLY PARADISE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that after the 50 metres he failed to make a sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when not quite clear of SIENNA EAGLE (APPRENTICE J PESCUISO) resulting in that horse having to check. He was suspended from riding in races for the racemeetings of 4th and 9th September 2011 and fined the sum of HK$30,000 in lieu of 2 additional racemeetings. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 10:50pm.
A post race veterinary examination of GEM PRINCE (H LAM) at the request of the rider revealed that the horse was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer V CHONG was informed that GEM PRINCE will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
