Race Report

RACE-5 THE PARK TOP RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1100 METRES (20)
TURQUOISE FAST (K H YU) jumped awkwardly with its head up and contacted the side of the barriers.
Then near the 700 metres TURQUOISE FAST got its head up again and hung out.
In the middle stages LONGHU STAR (A SPITERI) raced greenly and as a consequence lost ground.
KA CHUN FORTUNE (APPRENTICE C F WONG) and HUNG KONG STAR (W L HO) raced wide rounding the home turn.
When questioned in relation to the disappointing performance of ELDERLY PARADISE, Jockey J LERMYTE explained that he was instructed to have the horse in a forward position without placing the horse under undue pressure. He said the horse was never comfortable in the run and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight the gelding was inclined to hang out and did not respond, and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of ELDERLY PARADISE failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
