Race Report

RACE-6 THE BARODA RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (79)
RETALIATE (K W LEONG) jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start CALLISTO KID (M PUMPA) was steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of RETALIATE (K W LEONG) and MASTER WINNER (L CORRALES).
When questioned Jockey J LERMYTE the rider of LUEN YAT HONOUR explained that he was instructed to race just behind the pace and save ground if possible. He said that he rode the horse along vigorously after the start but was unable to obtain a forward position and when he endeavored to steady the horse to move closer to the rail near the 1200 metres it changed stride, became unbalanced and shifted out. He said near the 1000 metres when the gelding was over racing he elected to shift wider on the track to improve his position and to race closer to the lead in accordance with his instructions, he said that he was able to make ground at that stage of the race but was forced to race three wide until the 400 metres and then shifted wider on the home turn to improve.
NOTEVENOW (N K CHAN) raced wide rounding the first turn.
Near the 700 metres BEST TREASURE (M NUNES) which was racing in restricted room to the inside of SUN PROFIT (A CALDER) which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BOWL BROTHERS (K H YU) bumped the rail on a number of occasions.
After the 300 metres RETALIATE (K W LEONG) which was commencing to give ground was momentarily steadied when SPIDER MAN (K M CHIN) shifted out slightly.
For a considerable distance after the 300 metres FLYING HORSE (W T PAO) had difficulty obtaining clear running.
For a considerable distance after the 300 metres LAUGHING WORLD (APPRENTICE C F WONG) had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 metres was checked and shifted out abruptly to improve.
