Race Report

RACE-4 THE AUCKLAND RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1050 METRES (114)
THE LOVE GURU (A CALDER) and MR BEAUTIFUL (M PUMPA) jumped awkwardly.
When under pressure in the straight GRUENFELD (L CORRALES) hung in and as a consequence raced tight with FELSHAM (M NUNES) and bumped that horse on a number of occasions.
Jockey J PESCUISO the rider of TRUEBLUE WIZARD accidentally dropped his whip near the 200 metres and was issued with a reprimand.
Jockey F DURSO the rider of NATAGO explained that he was instructed to have the horse in a forward position however taking into account the top weight of 133lbs to endeavour to allow the horse to travel mid race. He added he jumped well and rode the horse along to be just behind the lead until the 600 metres however, when he stopped urging the horse at that stage the horse appeared to resent the kickback, became unbalanced and lost ground quickly. He said he commenced to ride the horse along again shortly after and endeavored to move the horse wider and away from the kick rounding the home turn. He said that when in clear running in the straight the horse ran on well. His explanation was noted.
