Race Report

RACE-3 THE BALLAD ROCK RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1100 METRES (223)
Trainer G MOORE advised the Stewards just prior to the race that if circumstances permit it was his intention from a wide barrier to ride the horse midfield. The Stewards acceded to his request however Trainer G MOORE was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he should advise the Stewards earlier.
FOREST (P U WONG) jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
UNITED TREASURE (J LERMYTE) blundered on jumping.
TURQUOISE FAST (K H YU) hung out rounding the turn.
Passing the 200 metres GREAT TIGER (K W LEONG) steadied and was carried in by EASY BET (W L HO) which shifted inwards when initially placed under pressure.
PALACE GENERAL (N CUNHA) and GOLDEN BULLET (K F CHOI) raced wide throughout.
When questioned in regards to the performance of GOLDEN SPIRITUAL, Jockey K M CHIN said that he was instructed to ride the horse midfield from the wide barrier. He said after jumping he eased his mount back in an endeavor to obtain a position close to the rails, however was surprised by the pace of the race and found himself further back than expected. He said approaching the home turn he was happy with the position on the rails and in his opinion his mount improved to be not too far away from the leaders. He added in the straight his horse continued to make ground and that in his opinion the horse would be better suited when racing over more distance.
