Race Report

RACE-3 THE BALIDAR RATING 70-40 (CLASS 3) 1700 METRES (327)
SIGSON (F DURSO), MR BEST (L CORRALES) and BEST PIONEER (K M CHIN) jumped awkwardly.
HIGH NOW (H LAM) which was restless in the barriers, jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
MR BEST (L CORRALES), HIGH NOW (H LAM) and TURQUOISE FOREVER (K F CHOI) raced wide from 1000 metres.
SPIDER MAN (A HELFENBEIN) raced wide for the majority of the race.
When questioned Jockey K M CHIN the rider of BEST PIONEER explained that the horse had worked well leading up into the race and that he and the trainer were confident that the horse would perform well. He said that in the early stages the horse was over racing, however by the 1200 metres was travelling well just behind the leaders. Thenfrom the 500 metres the horse was off the bit and when placed under pressure in the straight was disappointing. He added that following the race the horse made an abnormal respiratory noise and as he was concerned it may have suffered an internal bleeding attack he had recommended to the trainer that the horse undergo a veterinary examination as well as an endoscopic examination. Trainer G W MOORE was directed to advise the Stewards of the result of the scope.
