Race Report

RACE-4 MACAU GOLD CUP (TRIPLE CROWN-3rd LEG) (GROUP 1) OPEN 1800 METRES (412)
Prior to the start VIVA HONG KONG (K F CHOI) and GIANT STEPS (T PEREIRA) were both examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeons behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
EASY CHOICE (A HELFENBEIN) jumped awkwardly.
Near the 1500 metres LUEN YAT FOREVER (M NUNES) and WORLD FORTUNE (G CHEYNE) bumped. After this incident WORLD FORTUNE raced ungenerously with its head up, made the crossing awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped heavily with JAZZA BELL (F DURSO). MY DARK CHOCOLATE (K M CHIN) which was following was checked in consequence. For some distance after this incident WORLD FORTUNE continued to over race.
Near the 1400 metres GOLDSON (L CORRALES) was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ELDERLY PARADISE (W SMITH).
Near the 400 metres KA WO FORTUNE (W T PAO) which was tiring shifted in and bumped with ELDERLY PARADISE (W SMITH). Shortly after KA WO FORTUNE then bumped with GIANT STEPS (T PEREIRA).
Near the 300 metres Jockey K F CHOI the rider of VIVA HONG KONG accidentally dropped his whip and was fined the sum of HK$500 under MJC Rule 14 (xvii)(a) for negligence.
MY ETERNAL FLAME (H LAM) raced wide for the majority of the race.
After the race the veterinary surgeon reported that EASY CHOICE (A HELFENBEIN) had cast its left fore plate.
All remaining races were put back 5 minutes.
