Race Report

RACE-7 THE LAHORE RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (67)
GOURMET (K L LEI) was examined behind the barriers and passed fit to race.
LUCK DRAGON (L JURADO) jumped awkwardly.
WONDERFUL EXPRESS (M NUNES) and HUNGPAOSHAQ (T PEREIRA) bumped on jumping.
Approaching the 600 metres POWER PURDEY (L CORRALES) was checked when tightened for room by ORIENTAL FREQUENCY (H LAM) which was taken in by STAR BO BO (K M CHIN). It was established that shortly after the start the saddle had slipped on STAR BO BO which had placed its rider K M CHIN at a disadvantage in being able to endeavour to properly straighten his mount at this stage of the race. In all circumstances, no further action was taken. Shortly after this incident the saddle on STAR BO BO continued to shift back resulting in K M CHIN being placed at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the race and as such STAR BO BO was not fully tested.
Jockey K K LAI the rider of SEALAND TREASURE pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i). The particulars being that near the 600 metres he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GOURMET (K L LEI) which was taken in and in turn crowded HUNGPAOSHAQ (T PEREIRA) which was checked. Jockey K K LAI was fined the sum of HK$18,000 in lieu of two raceday suspensions. He was advised of Right of Appeal at 6:25pm.
Rounding the home turn POWER PURDEY (L CORRALES) was held up and unable to obtain clear running until the 200 metres.
Near the 50 metres HUNGPAOSHAQ (T PEREIRA) was momentarily hampered between GOURMET (K L LEI) and ORIENTAL PARIS (B YAMZON) which shifted out.
WONDERFUL EXPRESS (M NUNES) and SEALAND TREASURE (K K LAI) raced wide for the majority of the race.
After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that LUCKY DRAGON (L JURADO) had a suffered a bleeding attack.
A post race veterinary examination of STAR BO BO (K M CHIN) failed to reveal any significant abnormality other than the saddle had shifted back.
A post race veterinary examination of FOUR EYES BOBO (K W LEONG) failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer M C Tam was informed that he would be required to present FOUR EYES BOBO (K W LEONG) to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 14th October 2012.
Jockey K K LAI was issued with a reprimand for leaving the racecourse without obtaining Stewards’ permission.
