Race Report

RACE-5 THE BRENTFORD RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1050 METRES (283)
Near the 300 metres MARUNHANGTUNG (F DURSO) rolled out and brushed PRIDE OF TRIOMPHE (C GRYLLS).
After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that PRIDE OF TRIOMPHE (C GRYLLS) had cast its left hind plate.
When questioned Jockey A CALDER the rider of BETORREGRET which had trialled well on grass prior to racing explained that he had been instructed to attempt to ride the filly on the speed if possible. He added BETORREGRET had travelled well until in the vicinity of the 600 metres and until placed under pressure had struggled to maintain its position and had tired quickly. Jockey A CALDER indicated that BETORREGRET had previously raced on the sand in America and when unsaddling had formed the opinion the filly would be improved by the run. A post race veterinary examination of BETORREGRET failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
