Race Report

RACE-6 THE LUTON RATING 80-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (290)
Racing to the winning post the first time WINDSOR ARCH (A HELFENBEIN) was obliged to ease when momentarily tightened between DANPAOSHAQ (L CORRALES) which rolled out and ENERGY GLADIATOR (K H YU) which rolled in marginally.
ANSON (R B WOODWORTH) jumped the crossing in the vicinity of the 1500 metres.
Passing the 700 metres SMART HALO (K ABOBO) commenced to give ground and became tailed off. A post raced veterinary examination SMART HALO failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W T LAI was informed that he would be required to present SMART HALO to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 7th April 2013. He was further advised that in view of the unsatisfactory performance of SMART HALO, the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
Jockey A HELFENBEIN the rider of WINDSOR ARCH explained that mid race his mount was in a similar position to when it was successful last week against similar opposition, however although WINDSOR ARCH had lost its footing on a number of occasions making the turn out of the straight, he felt the firmer ground on this occasion had not advantaged his mount.
Jockey A HELFENBEIN was questioned regarding his failure to ride that gelding to the finish. After considering his explanation and reviewing the vision, Jockey HELFENBEIN was charged with negligence under MJC Rule 14 (xvii)(a). He pleaded guilty and was fined the sum of HK$5,000.
A post race veterinary examination of ANSON (R B WOODWORTH) failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
