Race Report

RACE-6 THE CLARION RATING 80-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1600 METRES (376)

1 Gauteng (Apprentice C Perkins) -From the 800 metres commenced to lay in for a considerable distance.
2 King Creole (M Cangas) -Jumped very awkwardly missing the start; At the winning post on the first occasion was obliged to steady when awkwardly placed between heels.
4 Rusharound (R Stewart) -Jumped awkwardly.
6 Golden Shooter (K M Chin) –Momentarily inconvenienced when brushed at the entrance to the straight;
8 Mr Best (A Calder) -Was slow to jump.
10 Haayil Shadow (W T Pao) -At the entrance into the straight became unbalanced after brushing with 6 Golden Shooter.
11 Smart Halo (R B Woodworth) -Trainer was informed that the horse would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
13 Macau Stand (F Durso) -Rider reported its action was inconsistent in running.

INQUIRY: When questioned Jockey K M Chin the rider of 6 Golden Shooter explained that from the wide draw he was instructed to attempt to place 6 Golden Shooter in mid division and stated that he had been able to fulfill his instructions. He said he had been happy with his position, however stated that in the vicinity of the 1000 metres he had been struck in the left eye by an object which had cracked his goggles and thereafter his visibility had been restricted as he attempted to avoid as much of the kickback as possible. After reviewing the vision and examining Jockey K M Chin’s goggles and noting he had received treatment at the Clinic, the Stewards accepted Jockey K M Chin’s explanation, however he was cautioned that in future he would be expected to notify the Stewards prior to attending the Clinic.

VETERINARY:
2 King Creole (M Cangas) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Rusharound (R Stewart) -A post race veterinary examination at the request of its rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
13 Macau Stand (F Durso) -A post race veterinary examination at the request of its rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
