Race Report

RACE-4 THE HAWKES BAY (SAND) RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1700 METRES (4)

4 Hugo And You (B Yamzon) -Brushed on jumping.
6 St Accord (K K Lai) –Inside 600 was forced to check losing its position.
7 Sunshine Cheers (K W Leong) -The Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3:24pm in view that Jockey K W Leong had been stood down as he was suffering from an injury and there was no available riders to be substituted at that time.
12 Rigid Alloy (H Lam) -Brushed on jumping. Trainer was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 6 St Accord (K K Lai) suffered interference in the vicinity of the 600 metres. The Stewards established that for some distance prior to the 600 metres 6 St Accord (K K Lai) had improved legitimately inside the running line of 3 Strong Wind (K Abobo) and maintained that position for some distance prior to being tightened for room by 3 Strong Wind (K Abobo) which shifted in. Jockey K Abobo was charged with careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he permitted his mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in 6 St Accord (K K Lai) being forced to checked when tightened for room. Jockey K Abobo was found guilty and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of 4th & 5th October 2013. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 5:25pm.

1 Turquoise Song (R Silvera) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Luen Yat Supreme (Apprentice Y M Choi) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
