Race Report
RACE-2 THE COONAMBLE (DIV.2) (TURF) RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (75)
At 8:01pm Mr. K H Leong the trainer of 10 Pearl Tahiti advised Stewards that as that horse was disposed to hang out in its races, from its wide draw, he would instruct the rider to attempt to settle back in the field in order to save ground.

1 Diamond King Kong (R Curatolo) -Shortly after the start was inconvenienced when contacted;Making the turn inside the 700 metres shifted out when avoiding heels.
3 Forever Friendship (B Yamzon) -Inside the 900 metres was inconvenienced when brushed.
6 Mikesan (A Calder) –Inside the 700 metres rolled out making the turn.
7 Treasure Smile (K M Lei) -Jumped awkwardly; In the vicinity of the 900 metres became unbalanced when brushed by runners to its inside; Making the turn inside the 700 metres was hampered and obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance.
8 Wind Chaser (W L Ho) -In the straight was inclined to lay out.
10 Pearl Tahiti (M Cangas) -Raced wide without cover throughout; When making the turn inside the 700 metres was hampered and taken wider.
11 Mission Brahma (K K Lai) -Jumped awkwardly.
12 Sharon Winner (R Silvera) -In the vicinity of the 500 metres when travelling well was obliged to ease off heels; In the vicinity of the 200 metres was inconvenienced and obliged to alter course; Approaching the finish when attempting to improve rolled out and became awkward on heels.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey R Silvera the rider of 12 Sharon Winner into his reasons for altering course when attempting to improve between 8 Wind Chaser (W L Ho) and 9 Rush'n Prince (K Abobo) inside the 200 metres. Jockey R Silvera explained that after receiving minor interference he had attempted to improve outside 8 Wind Chaser, however he became aware that runner was inclined to hang out and in order to afford his mount uninterrupted running he had elected to alter course to the inside of that horse.

The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey M Cangas in regards to 10 Pearl Tahiti being ridden in apparent contrast to the instructions provided. Jockey M Cangas explained that he had intended to attempt to follow his instructions without conceding too much ground but had been prevented from doing so due to his mount commencing well and gathering speed and partly due to the position of other runner to his inside.

VETERINARY:
5 Joy Chesney (R Stewart) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it had performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
12 Sharon Winner (R Silvera) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Mikesan (A Calder) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
