Race Report

RACE-5 THE RIPON RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1700 METRES (118)

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey K M Lei in relation to his riding of 9 Windsor Arch Three from the 600 m to the finish of the race. He explained he had been instructed from a wide barrier to attempt to get his mount close to the inside rail so as to save ground and to give 9 Windsor Arch Three every opportunity to finish off its race. He said that after improving mid race his mount did not give him a feel that had a strong finish. Trainer Alan Ngai confirmed his instructions and stated that he had some doubt that 9 Windsor Arch Three which was having its third run on the sand would be suited by the 1700 metres journey. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision, the Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.

VETERINARY:
1 Anson (R Stewart)-A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic of a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 8 December 2013. After considering a submission from Trainer P Leyshan that 1 Anson’s performance was uncharacteristically poor and resulted from an amendment to the program resulted in 1 Anson needing to be rushed from the stables and was late in being saddled, the Stewards granted relief from the standard requirement for 1 Anson to barrier trial prior to racing again.
10 Rush'N Prince (K K Lai)-A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W T Lai was advised that 10 Rush'N Prince would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
