Race Report

RACE-3 THE NEWBURY (DIV.2) RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (129)

2 Nothing To Say (C Perkins) -Was inclined to race keenly in the early stages of the event.
5 Wind Chaser (K M Lei) -Fractious in the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to race; Inside 600 when awkwardly placed was obliged to ease.
8 Delight Consul (W L Ho) –Missed the start.
9 Mr Best (A Calder) –At the winning post on the first occasion was forced to steady losing its position.
10 Sunshine Flyer (H Lam) -Trainer Pat Lee was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
12 Luen Yat Sequalo (K Abobo) –Was slow to jump; Raced wide throughout the event.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 9 Mr Best (A Calder) was forced to steady at the winning post on the first occasion. It was established that 9 Mr Best was forced to steady losing its position when crossed by 6 Northern Kid (Apprentice Y M Choi). After reviewing the official vision the Stewards charged Apprentice Y M Choi with careless riding under Rule 132 (ii) in that he allowed his mount to cross the running of 9 Mr Best when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Y M Choi was suspended for two racemeetings to take effect for the meetings of 12th and 17th January 2014. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 6:36pm.

VETERINARY:
4 St Chalan (R Stewart) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Sunshine Flyer (H Lam) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
