Race Report

RACE-2 THE COMMANCHE RUN RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1500 METRES (142)

1 Pioneer Gem (C F Chan) –In the early and middle stages raced keenly; Rider was dislodged when pulling up and suffered a harmless fall.
2 Wear A Smile (H Lam) –Jumped awkwardly and was then taken across the back of the field to obtain a position closer to the inside rail.
3 Luen Yat Sequalo (M McNab) –From the 300 metres was eased out of the event. Trainer K C Wong was informed that the horse would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in satisfactorily in the barrier trial.
4 Rush'N Prince (R Curatolo) –Making the turn out of the straight near the 1300 metres was hampered and obliged to race in restricted room; Trainer W T Lai was informed that the horse would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in satisfactorily in the barrier trial.
5 Smart Ebony (Apprentice C F Wong) –Making the turn out of the straight near the 1300 metres was inconvenienced when tightened for room
6 Treasure Smile (W L Ho)
7 Break The Commands (J Matthews) –Trainer W T Lai was informed that the horse would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in satisfactorily in the barrier trial.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident in the vicinity of the 1400 metres in which 5 Smart Ebony (Apprentice C F Wong) and 4 Rush'N Prince (R Curatolo) were tightened for room. The Stewards established that racing to this point 5 Smart Ebony had been inclined to lay in taking 4 Rush'N Prince in onto 3 Luen Yat Sequalo (M McNab) resulting in those horses racing tight against each other when inside the heels of 1 Pioneer Gem (C F Chan) as it rolled in when improving to their outside. Jockey C F Chan was advised that although not in fully responsible for the incident to in future give riders to his inside the room to which they were entitled.

3 Luen Yat Sequalo (M McNab) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

7 Break The Commands (J Matthews) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
