Race Report

RACE-6 MACAU GOLDEN GROUP FAT CHOY BOWL RATING 80-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (205)
This race was rescheduled to start at 5:00pm.

1 My Dark Chocolate (R Curatolo) –Raced wide without cover throughout the event; From the 400 metres was eased out of the event.
4 Master Kabiddi (L Corrales) –Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
6 Best Co Tack (A Calder) –In the vicinity of the crossing near the 1300 metres was inclined to race keenly for some distance.
9 Florence Elite (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Near the 500 metres was checked as a consequence of 12 Spaceage Eagle suffering interference.
10 Gauteng (W T Pao) –Near the 500 metres was checked as a consequence of 12 Spaceage Eagle suffering interference.
12 Spaceage Eagle (M Cangas) –Near the 500 metres struck the running rail and lost momentum when tightened for room; From inside the 100 metres was eased.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 12 Spaceage Eagle (M Cangas) lost its position inside the 500 metres. The Stewards established that at that point 2 Fortune Smiles (H Lam) had rolled in marginally towards 12 Spaceage Eagle which checked itself as it running room was restricted. At the same time 13 Turquoise Heart (Apprentice C F Wong) which had commenced to give ground rolled in when racing inside 4 Master Kabiddi (L Corrales). In consequence 9 Florence Elite (Apprentice Y M Choi) and 10 Gauteng (W T Pao) were hampered in attempting to avoid 12 Spaceage Eagle. The Stewards determined that no rider to be responsible and no action was taken.

Jockey A Calder the rider of 6 Best Co Tack explained that he had been instructed to race forward with cover if possible however after beginning well his mount had raced a little keenly and passing the winning post he had considered there was no opportunity to slot in and gain cover. He stated he allowed 6 Best Co Tack some rein in an endeavour to let it settle, however over the crossing he had not relaxed and continued to race keenly. He said that it was his opinion that 6 Best Co Tack would be better suited when able to be with cover in races.

Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 1 My Dark Chocolate explained that he had not been provided with any instructions due to the outside draw. After establishing a position with cover leaving the straight from the 900 metres his mount had struggled when asked to improve. He stated from the 700 metres his mount had dipped in the going on a number of occasions and in his opinion lost contact with the field. He said from that point he had not persisted in his riding.

VETERINARY:
1 My Dark Chocolate (R Curatolo) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer G W Moore was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 16th February 2014.
12 Spaceage Eagle (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
