Race Report

RACE-5 THE GUJRANWALA RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (409)

2 Charming Beijing (R Curatolo) –Was inclined to rear as the gates opened.
7 Presentation (W L Ho) –Jumped awkwardly; Shortly after the start was obliged to steady to avoid heels:Inside the 700 metres when awkwardly placed was obliged to steady.
11 Gold Selection (W T Pao) –Was inspected in the parading rind and was found to be lame in the right foreleg, Acting on veterinary advice the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at10:08pm; Trainer K Seo was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Apprentice Y M Choi the rider of 4 Golden Well Bo Bo into his riding of that horse in the early stages of the race. Apprentice Y M Choi explained that he was instructed to try and attempt to have his horse in front but to avoid becoming in a duel with 6 Golden Bullet (K H Yu) which the trainer felt would display speed. He said that in the going 4 Golden Well Bo Bo had not displayed the same speed as other runners and he had settled off the pace and shifted towards the inside in an attempt to save ground. Trainer G Allendorf confirmed his instructions but added that he would have been happy for 4 Golden Well Bo Bo to travel two or three wide on today’s track. After considering Apprentice Y M Choi’s explanation and reviewing the official vision, the Stewards considered that the apprentice might have persevered in attempting to fulfill his instructions. However, having regard to all circumstances advised the apprentice that his explanation would be reported.
