Race Report

RACE-2 THE BRAGANCA RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1600 METRES (465)
At 8:57pm Apprentice Y M Choi the rider of 4 Laughing World advised that he had been instructed to lead in tonight’s race if possible, however if there was excessive pace to try and obtain a position outside the leader.

1 Chinese Dragon (B Yamzon) –Bumped by 4 Laughing World on jumping away.
2 Sunshine Pantheon (C K Tong) –Jumped awkwardly.
4 Laughing World (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Jumped awkwardly and shifted out making contact with 1 Chinese Dragon.
6 Sunshine Cheer Up (M Cangas) –Was slow to jump; Raced wide rounding the first turn.
9 Concentration (J Horcajada) –Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide from the 700 metres.
10 Sheng Li Grand (K W Leong) –Jumped awkwardly.
11 Face The Sun (C F Chan) –Leaving the 700 metres commenced to hang out. The rider reported his mount hung out from the 700 metres and in the straight was making respiratory noises.
12 Fortune Pegasus (R Silvera) –Examined by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers at the rider’s request and ruled fit to start; Near the 150 metres was inclined to shift out under pressure.

INQUIRY:
Jockey R Silvera the rider of 12 Fortune Pegasus stated that shortly after the start he commence to place 12 Fortune Pegasus under pressure to take up a forward position, however he was concerned with his mount’s action so he elected to stop riding. He said as the race progressed his mount’s action began to improve and as such he was able to ride the horse to the finish. He further added immediately after the race he notified the Veterinary Surgeon of his concerns and also advised the Stewards.

The Stewards intend to question Trainer K C Hoi in regards to apparent improved performance of
4 Laughing World (Apprentice Y M Choi) when he is available.

VETERINARY:
6 Sunshine Cheer Up (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Face The Sun (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W T Lai was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 30th August 2014. In addition the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
12 Fortune Pegasus (R Silvera) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer W T Lai was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
