Race Report

RACE-5 THE AQUEDUCT RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (89)

1 Healthy Life (W L Ho) – On jumping away shifted out and brushed 2 Brave Panda; Checked near the 150 metres and went to the finish line without being fully tested.
4 Inventive (A Calder) –Raced keenly during the early stages.
5 Lobor Treasure (C Perkins) –Near the 150 metres checked, clipped heels and blundered when awkwardly placed on the heels of 2 Brave Panda.
8 Iron Alloy (H Lam) –Jumped outwards at the start and made contact with 6 Will Be Amazed.

INQUIRY:

The “Enquiry” signed was semaphored and at the same time the Stewards considered the objections lodged by Jockey C Perkins the rider of 5 Lobor Treasure ( 5th place getter) and Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 7 Power Alkhafif (4th place getter ) against 2 Brave Panda (Suraj Narredu) being declared 2nd place getter for alleged interference in the final 100 metres.
After considering all the evidence and bearing in mind the margins of 5 ¼ + 5 lengths, the Stewards could not be satisfied that if the interference had not occurred, that neither 5 Lobor Treasure nor 7 Power Alkhafif could have finished ahead of 2 Brave Panda and as such the objection was dismissed and the correct weight was declared.

At a later inquiry, Jockey Suraj Narredu the rider of 2 Brave Panda pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 100 metres whilst riding along he permitted his mount to shift in resulting in 5 Lobor Treasure being take in across the running of 1 Healthy Life (W L Ho) which was checked. He then continued to shift in whilst riding along resulting in 7 Power Alkhafif being checked and 5 Lobor Treasure being checked, clipping heels, blundering and almost dislodging its rider. Jockey Suraj Narredu ‘s licence was suspend for a period to take effect at midnight on Saturday, 22nd November 2014 and expire at midnight on Friday, 28th November 2014 which includes one Macau racemeeting. In addition he was fined the sum of HK$30,000 in lieu of three further racemeetings.

VETERINARY:
5 Lobor Treasure (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
