Race Report

RACE-1 THE OPUNAKE RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4&5) 1350 METRES (103)

2 Red King (W T Pao) –On the way to the barrier reared up, lost it footing dislodging its rider; Was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to race; The rider was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfill his riding engagements; Was marginally slow to begin and then steadied off the heels of 6 It's A Round World which shifted in.
7 So True So Fake (B Yamzon) –Rider reported that he struck some interference near the 900 metres however the gelding did not feel right in its action.

INQUIRY:
It was established that near the 800 metres 7 So True So Fake (B Yamzon) had to be steadied off the heels of 8 Oriental Paris (C Perkins) after being taken in by 4 War Heights (R Curatolo) which initially shifted in and was then taken in further by 6 It's A Round World (I Mosqueira) which was also shifted in before being straightened by its rider. In all the circumstances, the Stewards did not believe any one rider could be held accountable for this incident, however all riders were advised to exercise the utmost care when in similar circumstances in future.

VETERINARY:
7 So True So Fake (B Yamzon) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer J Lau was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 6 December 2014.
8 Oriental Paris (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
