Race Report

RACE-2 THE LUCKY STAR RATING SPECIAL (SPECIAL) 1400 METRES (215)

2 Iron Alloy (M Cangas) –Rider reported his mount over raced in the early stages;Poor performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
6 Gold And Silver (W T Pao) –Accidentally dropped his whip near the 300 metres after he was accidentally struck with the whip on the hand by another rider.
7 Sunshine Melody (C F Chan) –Stood flat footed when the start was effected. Trainer K C Hoi was informed that a warning had been placed on the horse and should it perform in a similar manner in future action may be taken; Rider reported that after being slow to begin his mount failed to respond to muster early speed. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
8 Super Buffet (A Calder) –For a short distance rounding the home turn was unable to obtain clear running.
9 Crowning Mission (J Horcajada) –Shortly after the start shifted out abruptly and had to be steadied off heels; Raced keenly through the middle stages and had to steady on a number of occasions.
10 Turquoise Heart (C Perkins) –For distance round the home turn in the straight was held up and unable to improve its position; Unable to obtain clear running from the 100 metres and went to the winning post not fully tested
12 Concentration (R Curatolo) – Near the 300 metres had to be checked off the heels of 2 Iron Alloy which was weakening

INQUIRY:
At the winning post 9 Crowning Mission (J Horcajada) had to be checked when tightened for room between 4 Salon (L Corrales) which initially shifted in and 1 Treasure Smile (H Lam) which shifted out. Jockey H Lam the rider of 1 Treasure Smile was severely reprimanded and advised that he must stop riding and straighten his mount on similar circumstances.

VETERINARY:
2 Iron Alloy (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination of 2 Iron Alloy which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Sunshine Melody (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination of 7 Sunshine Melody failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
