Race Report

RACE-2 THE GRIMSBY RATING MAIDEN () 1350 METRES (307)

1 Rayden (W L Ho) –Was marginally slow to begin;
2 Modena World (M Cangas) –Approaching the 800 metres became unbalanced when racing in restricted room.
3 Truely Love (L Corrales) –Raced three wide without cover.
6 I'M Unique (C Perkins) –Was slow to begin.
7 Yummy Yummy (K H Yu) –Shifted in when the gates were released and made contact with 4 Far Reaching, as a result both those runners became unbalanced; Approaching the 100 metres rolled in under pressure and had to be steadied off the heels of 1 Rayden which rolled out slightly.
9 Sandy Beach (K W Leong) –Shifted in on jumping away and brushed 10 Colina Da Penha; Made contact with 10 Colina Da Penha for some distance after jumping away and became unbalanced; Raced keenly during the early stages and near the 1200 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 2 Modena World and as a result lost ground.
10 Colina Da Penha (W T Pao) –Made contact with 9 Sandy Beach for some distance after jumping away and became unbalanced; Rider could offer no real excuses for the gelding’s poor performance; Trainer J Lau was informed that 10 Colina Da Penha is suspended from racing and until such time that it performs competitively to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial. He advised that the gelding would be retired.
11 Rockin Laser (B Yamzon) –Jumped away awkwardly;

INQUIRY:
Near the 600 metres 2 Modena World (M Cangas) which had been racing ungenerously had to steadied to avoid the heels of 9 Sandy Beach (K W Leong) which had shifted in. Jockey K W Leong was severely reprimanded and notified that he must be at least 2 lengths clear when shifting ground at all times. Jockey M Cangas was severely reprimanded with regards to the quality of evidence and he was notified that he must be honest and give truthful evidence throughout any inquiry.

VETERINARY:
10 Colina Da Penha (W T Pao) – A post race veterinary examination of 10 Colina Da Penh which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
