Race Report

RACE-4 THE DUISBURG RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1950 METRES (345)

2 Luen Yat Sure Win (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Poor performance; Rider stated that his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure throughout; Trainer W T Lai was informed that 2 Luen Yat Sure Win will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards; In addition Trainer W T Lai was informed that he would be required to present 2 Luen Yat Sure Win to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough Veterinary examination on Sunday, 21st June 2015.
3 Sandtop (K W Leong) –After passing the 1200 metres, when over racing had to be steadied off the heels of 6 Laughing World.
4 Danpaoshaq (L Corrales) –Rider explained that the gelding despite his urgings never travelled well during the event, did not feel right in its action; Trainer P Leyshan was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
6 Laughing World (C F Wong) –Laid out in the straight under pressure.
7 Yu Long Success (R Curatolo) –Was slow to begin (4L).
8 Chinese Dragon (B Yamzon) –Raced three wide without cover.
9 Anson (R Stewart) –For some distance leaving the 600 metres was held up when unable to improve its position

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards interviewed the barrier attendant Mr. R Apostol who was responsible for 7 Yu Long Success (R Curatolo) in the barriers, in particular as to his actions after the gates were released. After taking evidence from Mr. R Apostol, the Starter Mr. P K Mo and Assistant Starter Mr. W K Lei and viewing the available films, it was established that 7 Yu Long Success was very slow to begin and as barrier attendant Mr. R Apostol was dismounting from the structure it appeared that his arm moved towards that horse. Mr. R Apostol explained that he did not make contact with the horse and it was not his intention to do that, and it was simply his movements when dismounting from the barrier at the stage. His explanation was noted.

VETERINARY:
2 Luen Yat Sure Win (Apprentice Y M Choi) –A post race veterinary examination of 2 Luen Yat Sure Win which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
