Race Report

RACE-4 THE CAMPINAS RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1800 METRES (393)

1 Basement (H Lam) –Disappointing performance; The Stewards ordered a post race veterinary examination; Trainer J Lau was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 27th July 2015.
3 Four Season Health (W L Ho) –Over raced and got its head up when making the turn out of the straight; Poor performance; Rider reported that from 500 metres failed to obtain clear running and thereafter lost its momentum.
7 Yu Long Success (R Curatolo) –Was slightly slow to begin and shifted out and bumped 3 Four Season Health.
10 Jylland (K W Leong) –Struck the side of the gates on jumping away; Raced keenly in the early and middle stages; Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was hampered by 3 Four Season Health which shifted out after improving onto the heels of 8 Rush'N Prince.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey H Lam regarding his riding of 1 Basement . He advised that he had been instructed to settle the gelding in a mid field position however it was off the bit for most of the event and did not handle the heavy track and that it stumbled and became unbalanced on many occasions. He added that he was inconvenienced near the 600 metres when there was some interference in from of him and 1 Basement was never on the bit from that point. He further added that the gelding was one paced and in his opinion was disappointing as it had worked well in a gallop during the week. He highlighted that it was 1 Basement ‘s first start on a heavy track today and it was noted that it was the gelding’s first start over the 1800 metres.

Jockey K W Leong the rider of 10 Jylland pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 600 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of 3 Four Season Health (W L Ho) which was tightened for room between that gelding and 6 Diamond Admire (C Perkins) and had to be checked. He had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 7th and 14th August 2015. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account the mitigating circumstances including the racing manners of 10 Jylland, his guilty plea and his recent poor racing record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

3 Four Season Health (W L Ho) - A post race veterinary examination of 3 Four Season Health which performed poorly failed that reveal any significant abnormality.
