Race Report

RACE-1 THE JIVER RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (402)

2 Cali Fortune (W Smith) – Performed below market expectations; Rider questioned; Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 2 Cali Fortune to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 2nd August 2015.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
When questioned Jockey W Smith the rider of 2 Cali Fortune explained that he had been instructed to ride the gelding forward which is its established pattern. He added that 2 Cali Fortune settled outside the leader, however was never traveling well and was under hard riding from the 800 metres before compounding in the straight. He further added that the gelding felt fine in its action on pulling up.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 8 Gold Selection (C F Chan), Assistant Trainer P Lo, representative of the K Seo stable stated that at its most recent run the gelding was not suited by the heavy track. He explained that 8 Gold Selection was suited by the 1350 metres on the sand track today and the tempo of the race.
