Race Report

RACE-3 THE BEIJING RATING 80-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1800 METRES (440)

2 Elderly Paradise (C F Chan) –Poor performance; Rider reported his mount dipped in the going on a number of occasions and failed to respond to his riding in straight. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards; Trainer M C Tam was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday 31st August 2015 and it would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
6 Fortune Smiles (D Chong) –Raced wide without cover; Poor performance; Rider reported that his mount did not handle the going; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
7 Sunshine Godsend (A Calder) –Was eased down in the straight and collapsed and died near the winning post; The Veterinary Surgeon reported that it suffered from a cardiac failure.
8 Windsor Arch Three (K H Yu) –Raced wide without cover; Poor performance; Rider reported his mount hung in throughout; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
9 Wyoming (M Cangas) –Jumped away extremely awkwardly; After passing the 800 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 4 Northern Legend which was also being steadied.
10 Sandtop (K W Leong) –Near the 1400 metres became unbalanced when racing in restricted room to the inside of 5 Luen Yat Colorado; Over raced near the 1200 metres;

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight, Jockey L Corrales the rider of the 4 Northern Legend 3rd placed getter lodged an objection against 5 Luen Yat Colorado (L Salles) being placed 2nd for alleged interference near the 800 metres. It was established that after passing the 800 metres 4 Northern Legend which had improved to the inside of 5 Luen Yat Colorado may have shifted out slightly and brushed that gelding which then had its hindquarters turned out thereby forcing it inwards. As a resulting 4 Northern Legend was tightened for room and steadied losing ground. After considering all the evidence and the beaten of margin of 1 and 1/4 length and where the incident occurred and the manner in which both horses finished off the event, the Stewards did not believe that a reversal in placings was warranted and therefore the protest was dismissed.

2 Elderly Paradise (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination of 2 Elderly Paradise which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Fortune Smiles (D Chong) –A post race veterinary examination of 6 Fortune Smiles which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Windsor Arch Three (K H Yu)–A post race veterinary examination of 8 Windsor Arch Three which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
