Race Report

RACE-5 THE MONTREAL RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (204)

1 The Precious Prime (C F Wong) –Prior to “Correct Weight” the Stewards viewed the official patrol video to ascertain whether 1 The Precious Prime had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected, 1 The Precious Prime reared and struck the side of the barrier and as a result lost significant ground. As the incident was due to the manners of 1 The Precious Prime, “Correct Weight” was declared. When questioned, Jockey C F Wong explained that after rearing in the barriers and being slow to begin, his mount traveled well throughout the race, however it was beaten horse at the 600 metres and, as he was in some difficulty after striking his right leg during the barrier mishap, he eased the horse down in the straight. Jockey C F Wong was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and was found unfit to continue riding. A post race veterinary examination of 1 The Precious Prime failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that the horse will be required to perform in a Jump Out prior to racing again.
4 Florence Baby (C Perkins) –Threw its head up when the gates were released and lost some ground. Raced very keenly through the early and middle stages.
5 Vancouver Jaguar (W L Ho) –Over raced in the early stages.
8 Jade Elite (A Calder) –Shifted in after jumping away and brushed 11 Hit The Bull. Rider A Calder explained that he had been instructed by the trainer not be overly aggressive whilst using the whip on the gelding as it may resent the application.
11 Hit The Bull (R Curatolo) –Raced wide without cover.
12 Win Perfectly (K K Lai) –Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced through the early and middle stages.
13 Gem Fighter (C F Chan) –Raced keenly in the early and middle stages Rider reported his mount hung out rounding the home turn.
