Race Report

RACE-5 THE REPULSE BAY RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (294)

1 Great China (C Perkins) –Was marginally slow to begin. Shortly after the start was steadied and taken inwards after being hampered by 7 Modena Favorite which shifted in away from 8 Easy Victory.
3 Golden Bullet (W H Lao) –Raced three wide without cover.
4 Leader All The Way (W L Ho) –Raced five wide without cover.
5 Florence Elite (Y M Choi) –After passing the 100 metres shifted out and away from 2 River Colour which had shifted out. At the winning post was placed in restricted room between 6 China Cheers and 2 River Colour which continued to shift out. Jockey L Corrales the rider of 2 River Colour was severely reprimanded and notified that he must make a far greater effort to straighten his mount when in similar circumstances in future.
6 China Cheers (A Calder) –Raced four wide without cover.
7 Modena Favorite (W Smith) –Shortly after the start was inconvenienced by 8 Easy Victory which shifted in. Was held up from the 500 metres until the 400 metres.
8 Easy Victory (K H Yu) –Disappointing performance. Rider reported that his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Bowl Lucky (M Cangas) –Was marginally slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to “Correct Weight”, Jockey A Calder the rider of 6 China Cheers the 2nd placed getter and Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 5 Florence Elite the 3rd place getter, viewed the official videos before deciding not to lodge an objection against 2 River Colour being declared the winner. The Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds for any objections and “Correct Weight” was declared.
