Race Report

RACE-1 THE PISCES (Div. 1) RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1100 METRES (356)

3 River Freedom (W Smith) –Approaching the 1000 metres had to be restrained to avoid the heels of 2 Power Savabeel when bumped outwards by 1 Glory Moment. Approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position. Passing the 100 metres was steadied momentarily when crowded for room by 1 Glory Moment (H Lam) which shifted in slightly before being straightened by its rider.
5 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales) –Raced four wide without cover. Performed below market expectations. Rider report his mount would be better suited to the sand track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Chilli Boy (L Salles) -Approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position.
7 Happy Proposal (C F Wong) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. Approaching the 800 metres, when over racing, had to be checked off heels when the pace slackened.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey L Salles the rider of 6 Chilli Boy pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that after passing the 300 metres whilst riding his mount along he permitted it to shift out when insufficiently clear of 5 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales) which had to be checked. Jockey L Salles had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of three racemeetings to cover the meetings of 7th ,13th and 14th August 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his record, the severity of the interference and the degree of carelessness. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
