Race Report

RACE-2 THE INCHON (SAND) RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (363)

3 Ideal Horse (A Calder) –Was marginally slow to begin and then bumped outwards by 4 Her Time which shifted out.
4 Her Time (W H Lao) –Shifted out abruptly on jumping away. Over raced through the middle stages and raced wide without cover throughout. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported his mount performs better when able to lead in its races. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Elderly Paradise (A Aucharuz) –Knuckled on jumping away. Became unbalanced near the 900 metres.
7 Gold Selection (R Curatolo) –Had to be severely checked near the 900 metres.
8 Golden Dragon (K K Lai) – Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. Checked approaching the 900 metres.
9 River Best Diamond (K W Leong) –Rider reported his mount which was having its first start, raced greenly throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 River Emerald (K H Yu) –Was very difficult to load. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that the gelding will be required to perform in a Jump Out before racing again.
11 Tak Fai Of Pins (L Corrales) –Was inconvenienced near the 900 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:

Jockey W H Lao the rider of Her Time was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 11 Tak Fai Of Pins (L Corrales) which was taken inwards making heavy contact with 8 Golden Dragon (K K Lai). As a result 8 Golden Dragon was tightened onto 7 Gold Selection (R Curatolo) which was taken inwards making contact with 5 Elderly Paradise (A Aucharuz) turning that gelding’s hindquarters, before being taken in further and having to be checked in across the heels of 5 Elderly Paradise. During this incident 8 Golden Dragon also had to be checked. Jockey W H Lao’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of three racemeetings to cover the meetings of 21st, 27th and 28th August 2016. In arriving at the penalty the Stewards took into account his record, the degree of carelessness and the severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
