Race Report

RACE-6 THE SHATIN RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (60)

1 Ruling Elite (L Corrales) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 Easy Thai (W H Lao) –Over raced in the early stages.
5 Nickel Alloy (H Lam) –The Stewards questioned Jockey H Lam with regards to his riding of 5 Nickel Alloy, of particular concerns to the Stewards was his riding from the 600 metres until the 400 metres. Jockey H Lam explained that he rode the gelding at his most recent start where he was under pressure a long way from the finish and on that occasion 5 Nickel Alloy compounded in the home straight. He added in tonight’s race in attempt to allow the gelding to finish the race off, he endeavored from the 600 metres to ride his mount along while keeping the bit in its mouth. He further added when balanced up in the home straight, 5 Nickel Alloy responded when placed under pressure and finished the race off fairly. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards whilst having concerns with his ride from the 600 metres to the 400 metres took no further action other than to remind Jockey H Lam of his obligations to ride all his mounts in a manner as to leave no room for query in future.
6 One From Many (W Smith) –Jumped awkwardly.
8 Magic Miles (K H Yu) –Poor performance. Rider reported that his mount was a beaten horse from the 800 metres. He added that near the 600 metres his saddle slipped backwards. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
9 Hey Hey Companion (A Calder) –Was slow to begin.
