Race Report

RACE-2 【STAR RIVER．WINDSOR ARCH】CHARITY TROPHY RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1510 METRES (209)

1 Charity Group (O Chavez) -Was slow to begin and jumped awkwardly. Lost considerable ground. Trainer M C Tam was told that a warning was placed on the horse for its barrier manners.
4 Gold On (W L Ho) - Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Jockey W L Ho reported that he was concerned about the horse’s actions. Trainer K C Tse/W T Lai was informed that he would required to present 4 Gold On which was beaten 18 lengths to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 14th May 2018 and that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
6 Mission Magic (W Smith) -Blundered on jumping.
7 Techfaith Warrior (F Henrique) -At the 1100 metres shifted out off the fence to race wide, and continued to race wide to the home turn. A swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance of 7 Techfaith Warrior, Jockey F Henrique explained that he was instructed to lead or race in the forward position to try to avoid the kickback. The Stewards told Jockey F Henrique to ride his mount in a manner that leaves no room for query. Trainer S H Cheong confirmed the instructions as in his opinion the horse doesn’t like racing near the inside facing the kickback. The Stewards showed Trainer S H Cheong the video from 28th April, 2018 when 7 Techfaith Warrior ran on the sand and raced near to the inside and finish-on well in the straight and finished 3rd. The Stewards were not impressed with today’s instructions for 7 Techfaith Warrior and reminded Trainer S H Cheong of his obligations under MJC Rule 131 (iv) in that he is to formulate instructions that to achieve its best possible placing.
