1 Superlative Choice (C Perkins) - Checked after passing the 1200 metres (See inquiry report)
3 Famous Anson (W H Lao) - Slightly slow to begin, was then shifted behind runners to obtain a position on the rail.
7 Grande Fortune (L Corrales) - Was extremely difficult to load, during the incident, the blinkers and bridle were dislodged and had to be reapplied. This resulted in a significant delay to the start of the race. Trainer G Allendorf was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
Commenced awkwardly. Performed below market expectations. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality Rider stated that his horse did not commence well, however travelled comfortably throughout the race, before weakening in the straight.
9 Goal Achiever (M Alvarez) - Was bumped at the start, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced. Raced three wide for the majority.
10 Fortune Wai Wai (M Tanaka) - Reared slightly as the gates were released and lost a little ground.
12 Famous Man (I Poullis) - Jumped inwards, brushed 9 Goal Achiever and became unbalanced. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, was pushed wider by 11 Wing Wo, which was taken out slightly by 8 Wealthy Sun, which marginally shifted out. Passing the 1300 metres got its head up and raced very ungenerously for a short distance.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 1200 metres. Evidence was taken from rider of 1 Superlative Choice (C Perkins) and 11 Wing Wo (S H Huang). S H Huang, rider of 11 Wing Wo, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i), in that after passing the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of 1 Superlative Choice, which lost its rightful running and had to be checked. S H Huang had his license to ride in races suspended for a period of 2 days, with dates to be advised, and was fined the sum of HKD 2400. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account of his guilty plea, his poor riding record, the level of carelessness, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
Persons under 18 years of age and any others to be refused entry into betting centers are prohibited from gambling and entering Cashbet Centers.
