Race Report

RACE-5 THE PRAIA DE HAC SA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (68)

3 Yatholing (C L Cheung) - Approaching the 400 metres, had to be steadied from heels of 2 Chili Refreshing. Approaching the home turn made an awkward stride.
4 Sheng Tong Legend (W H Lao) -Shortly after straightening was bumped by 11 Sheng Tong Master (see inquiry)
5 Famous Nathan (L Corrales) - Dislodged rider approaching the winning post. Rider was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and found to be suffering from contusion to the head, and he was subsequently stood down from further riding engagement.
7 Lucky Runner (R Maia) -Having to be checked rounding the home turn (see inquiry).
8 Danish Star (Apprentice X C Liang) - Was forced to race wide rounding the home turn to improve its position.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into the dislodgment of L Corrales, rider of 5 Famous Nathan, approaching the winning post. The inquiry will be adjourned until rider L Corrales is able to give his evidence to the Stewards.

Stewards inquired into an incident approaching and rounding the home turn. K F Choi, rider of 11 Sheng Tong Master, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he permitted his mount to shift out rounding the home turn resulting in 7 Lucky Runner (R Maia) to be checked and taken outwards bumping 1 Sheng Tong Steed (C Perkins). Then shortly after straightening K F Choi again permitted his mount to shift out and bumped 4 Sheng Tong Legend (W H Lao). K F Choi had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day covering the racemeeting on Saturday, 6 January 2024. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good record, the level of interference and degree of careless. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
