Race Report

RACE-2 THE ZHONGSHAN RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1200 METRES (427)

1 Leader All The Way (K H Yu) –Raced greenly in the straight and approaching the winning post shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of 8 Gerson.
2 Chilli Boy (A Calder) –Prior to the race, Trainer J Lau informed the Stewards that due to the wide barrier, 2 Chilli Boy will be ridden further back; Settled towards the rear of the field.
3 So True So Fake (H Lam) –Prior to the race, Trainer J Lau informed the Stewards that due to the wide barrier, 3 So True So Fake will be ridden further back; Jumped awkwardly; Settled towards the rear of the field and raced keenly through the middle stages; Rider H Lam explained that the gelding dipped in the going on a number of occasions rounding the turn and in the straight, however felt fine in its action and he had advised connections that it maybe suited over more ground; Trainer J Lau was informed that he would be required to present 3 So True So Fake to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 23rd August 2015.
4 Rockin Laser (L Corrales) –Rider was dislodged on the way to the barriers, examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to ride; 4 Rockin Laser was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race; Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
5 Lucky And Strong (L Salles) –Rider reported that his mount resented being struck with the whip.
6 St Kitts (R Stewart) –Near the 400 metres steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of 4 Rockin Laser (L Corrales) which shifted in when not quite clear; Rider L Corrales was advised that he should ensure he is clear when shifting ground at all times.
8 Gerson (C F Wong) –Was slow into stride; For some distance approaching and passing the 600 metres had to be steadied when racing close to the heels of 9 Liver Pool.
9 Liver Pool (W Smith) –Poor performance; Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
10 My Eternal Flame (J Cordero) –Prior to the race, Trainer S H Cheong informed the Stewards that due to the wide barrier 10 My Eternal Flame will be ridden further back with cover; Settled towards the rear of the field; Rider explained that he allowed the gelding to settle wide during the run as he felt the going was superior.
14 Charming Shanghai (D Chong) –Shifted out on jumping away and made contact with 2 Chilli Boy and became unbalanced.

VETERINARY:
9 Liver Pool (W Smith) –A post race veterinary examination of 9 Liver Pool which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 St Kitts (R Stewart) – A post race veterinary examination of 6 St Kitts revealed that the horse was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer was P Leyshan was informed that it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
