Race Report

RACE-4 THE BORDEAUX (DIV.1) RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (324)
3 Jylland (Apprentice C Perkins) -Near the 200 metres brushed momentarily.
4 Rush'N Prince (K Abobo) -When tightened for room shortly after the start was obliged to steady losing its position.
5 Windsor Arch Three (L Jurado) -Jumped away awkwardly.
8 Bowl Brothers (L Corrales) -Cast its right fore plate.
10 Delight Consul (F Durso) -Near the 200 metres checked losing its momentum.
12 Fortune Horse (W Smith) -Near the 1200 metres was obliged to ease when awkwardly placed on heels.

INQUIRY: The Stewards sought an explanation from Trainer W T Lai as to the apparent improved performance by 4 Rush'N Prince (K Abobo). He stated that his instructions today were similar to previous starts in that the riders be positive in the early stages however on those occasions as was evident today 4 Rush'N Prince had settled mid field or worse. Mr. Lai added that the only explanation he could provide was that 4 Rush'N Prince which was having its first start on rain affected going appreciated the conditions.

The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which near the 200 metres 10 Delight Consul (F Durso) was checked when racing between 12 Fortune Horse (W Smith) and 3 Jylland (Apprentice C Perkins). The Stewards established that 10 Delight Consul had rolled out marginally and had momentarily brushed 3 Jylland which had shifted in of its own accord. Apprentice C Perkins was charged under MJC Rule 132 (i) with carelessness in that as 3 Jylland was shifting ground he had made no attempt to straighten his mount and relieve the pressure to 10 Delight Consul. Apprentice C Perkins was found guilty of the charge and was suspended from riding in races for two racemeetings. On submission, the Stewards agreed to vary the penalty to a suspension to apply to the racemeeting on the19th May 2013 and in addition he was fined the sum of HK$10,000 in lieu of one additional racemeeting.
He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 6:33pm.

VETERINARY:
2 Fair Comment (A Calder) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Classic Happy (W L Ho) -A post race veterinary examination revealed it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer informed that 6 Classic Happy will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
