Race Report

RACE-3 THE ARISTOPHANES RATING 70-40 (CLASS 3) 1950 METRES (351)

7 Excel (K H Yu) -Jumped awkwardly; From the 700 metres commenced to give ground. Trainer informed that horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
9 Danpaoshaq (L Corrales) -From the entrance to the straight until in the vicinity of the 300 metres became awkward when held up between heels.
10 Sunshine Wealthy (L Jurado) - Trainer informed that horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed in a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

INQUIRY: The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey L Jurado the rider of 10 Sunshine Wealthy regarding that gelding’s poor performance. Jockey L Jurado explained that despite being ridden vigorously after the start in contrast to previous performance, 10 Sunshine Wealthy was unable to take a more forward position. He stated that 10 Sunshine Wealthy appeared to show only a limited interest in racing and did not perform genuinely which was in contrast to its previous start. He added that he was disappointed with the performance of 10 Sunshine Wealthy and the only possible excuse he could find was that maybe the gelding preferred ground with more give.

The Stewards sought an explanation from Trainer P Leyshan with regards to the apparent improved performance of 8 Anson (F Durso). Trainer P Leyshan stated that prior to its previous two starts on heavy tracks the gelding had consistent form including a win over 1950 metres on former tracks. He stated that after the last start on the heavy track rather than continue to race 8 Anson he had preferred to wait hoping to find tracks with better going.

VETERINARY:
10 Sunshine Wealthy (L Jurado) -Post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer was informed to present 10 Sunshine Wealthy to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 2nd June 2013.
