Race Report

RACE-8 THE BRASILIA RATING 70-40 (CLASS 3) 1800 METRES (421)

2 Windsor Arch (R Silvera) –Approaching the 400 metres was severely hampered and taken wide.
3 Florence Elite (M Cangas) -Reared in the barriers, was then examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start; Near the 1400 metres race keenly and steadied off heels.
5 My Lucky Baby (Lei Kin Meng) -Made the turn on the first occasion wide.
7 Luen Yat Nediym (Apprentice C Perkins) -Inside the 500 was obliged to alter course from the heels of a tiring runner.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstance in which 2 Windsor Arch (R Silvera) was severely hampered and taken wider on the track in the vicinity of the 400 metres. The Stewards established that after improving inside 2 Windsor Arch from the 600 metres 7 Luen Yat Nediym (Apprentice C Perkins) had commenced to travel well and was obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of 5 My Lucky Baby (Lei Kin Meng) which had commenced to give ground quickly had contributed to the incident. In altering course 7 Luen Yat Nediym had shifted out onto 2 Windsor Arch. As Stewards considered that the circumstances of 5 My Lucky Baby losing ground and 7 Luen Yat Nediym commencing to improve quickly, Apprentice C Perkins was issued with a reprimand and advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey L Jurado the rider of 12 Sunshine Wealthy explained that it had been his intentions to settle his mount in 3rd or 4th position however from shortly after the start it was reluctant to race in the going and had displayed little interest in racing.

VETERINARY:
5 My Lucky Baby (Lei Kin Meng) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Sunshine Wealthy (L Jurado) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer was informed to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 28th July 2013 and in addition the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
