RACE-2 THE OPUNAKE RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1500 METRES (16)

1 Delight Consul (K K Lai)
2 Great Ambition (R Silvera) -Raced wide for the majority of the event.
3 Sharon Treasure (Lei Kin Meng)
4 St Kitts (B Yamzon) -Approaching the 500 metres was inconvenienced when brushed on a number of occasions; In the vicinity of the 200 metres was inconvenienced by 11 Florence Spirit which shifted out.
5 Dance Day (A Calder)
6 Aluminium Alloy (H Lam) -Examined behind the barriers and ruled fit to start; In the straight was inclined to lay in under pressure.
7 Rush'N Prince (K Abobo) -Inside the 600 metres was obliged to steady as it commenced to race keenly and improved onto heels.
8 Old Friend (K W Leong) -Examined behind the barriers and ruled fit to start; Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
9 The Dragon (M Cangas) -Missed the start and on jumping reared. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that a warning had been placed on the horse for its barrier manners.
10 Kao's Star (W T Pao)

12 Mission Fortune (K M Chin)

INQUIRY:
When questioned as to his reasons for not attempting to improve with 12 Mission Fortune (K M Chin), as that runner improved near the 500 metres, Jockey W T Pao the rider of 10 Kao's Star stated that he had been instructed to lead if possible and have his mount finish its race off strongly. He stated that he had considered he had ridden 10 Kao’s Star in accordance with his instructions. After considering this explanation, the Stewards advised Jockey W T Pao that they would adjourned this inquiry until Thursday, 3rd October 2013 to allow them to examine 10 Kao’s Star’s recent performances.

When questioned regarding his reasons for not using his whip in the straight, Jockey H Lam the rider of 6 Aluminium Alloy explained his mount was laying in for the length of the straight to the extent that he was concerned that if he had attempted to change the whip to his right hand to assist it, his mount would have shifted inwards and impacted on runners to his inside. After reviewing the official vision, the Stewards accepted Jockey H Lam’s explanation.

VETERINARY:
8 Old Friend (K W Leong) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer C Marshall was informed that it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial and a veterinary examination is produced.
4 St Kitts (B Yamzon) A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary examination is produced.
9 The Dragon (M Cangas) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
