Race Report

RACE-6 THE COUNTIES RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (20)

At 4:29 pm, Mr. S Chow the trainer of 1 Great Tiger (R Silvera) and Easy Money (A Calder) advised the Stewards that from the wide draw given their weight he would instruct both riders to allow their mounts to settle where comfortable with an emphasis to race as near to the inside rail as possible in order to save ground.

3 Easy Money (A Calder) -Raced wide without the cover throughout the event.
6 My Lucky Baby (B Yamzon) -Jumped awkwardly; At the 600 metres was forced to steady as it improved onto heels; At the entrance to the straight was held up for a short distance.
11 Betorregret (H Lam) -Was slow into stride on jumping away and was then inconvenienced. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the horse would not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
12 Diamond Star (K K Lai) –From the 200 metres was inclined to lay out under pressure;Rider was reprimanded for dropping his whip near the 200 metres.

INQUIRY:
Jockey A Calder the rider of 3 Easy Money was questioned as to why he persisted in racing three wide in the vicinity of the 700 metres. Jockey A Calder explained the he continued to obtain cover racing to and shortly after the 700 metres, however he had been unable to clear the runner back inside his heels. He stated that from the vicinity of the 500 metres he had considered taking a trail behind 7 Golden Bullet (K W Leong) however as he would have had to restrain his mount and as he considered the 7 Golden Bullet had commenced to come off the bridle he decided there was no real advantage to this mount at that stage of the race and maintained his position.

VETERINARY:
11 Betorregret (H Lam) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
