Race Report

RACE-2 THE LEEDS RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1400 METRES (135)

At 2:24PM Jockey L Corrales the rider of 11 Win A Little advised Stewards that as Trainer Mr. K W Chan had concerns the horse had been conceding too much ground in its races in an attempt to obtain an improvement inform . He had been instructed to be position from the barrier in order to have 11 Win A Little be more forward on settling.

5 Tron General (A Calder)-Near the 600 metres was obliged to steady off heels when improving
9 Fair Comment (C F Chan)- From the 1000 metres was awkwardly placed when racing in restricted room inside 6 Idea Of The Good (W L Ho) for some distance.
10 Cargo Merchant (J Matthews)-Shortly after the start was hampered losing its position when tightened for room;
11 Win A Little (L Corrales)-Near 1300 metres was obliged to steady when tightened for room losing its position;
12 Court In New York (K K Lai)-Shortly after the start was inconvenienced by 1 Keep It Rolling (R Curatolo) when tightened for room;

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 10 Cargo Merchant (J Matthews) and 11 Win A Little (L Corrales) suffered interference shortly after the start. It was established that after jumping 1 Keep It Rolling (R Curatolo) and had shifted out away from the inside rail taking 12 Court In New York (K K Lai) out onto 10 Cargo Merchant which lost its position when tightened for room. Shortly after 1 Keep It Rolling (R Curatolo) had continued out marginally resulting in 12 Court In New York being taken out onto 11 Win A Little which was forced to steady off heels. No action was taken as the Stewards determined the racing manners of 1 Keep It Rolling had contributed to the incident and that Jockey R Curatolo had made an appropriate attempt correct to his mount.

VETERINARY:
3 Aluminium Alloy (H Lam)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
12 Court In New York (K K Lai)- A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia, Trainer W T Lai was informed that the horse must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
