Race Report

RACE-4 WINTER TROPHY (GROUP 2) OPEN 1800 METRES (137)

9 Happy Strength (K W Leong)-Raced 3 wide throughout the event.
12 The Drunk Bird (K K Lai)-Making the turn out of the straight on first occasion was obliged to eased awkwardly between heels.

INQUIRY:
K H Yu the rider of 1 Elderly Paradise (K H Yu) explained that he had been instructed to attempt to lead and if that was not possible to settle 3rd or 4th. He said given the speed of the race his mount has traveled fairly, however from the 600 metres had commenced to hang out and thereafter had not responded to his riding.

A Calder the rider of 2 Oakcrest Drive (A Calder) explained that he had been instructed to settle mid field if possible. However given the pace of the race his mount did not travel comfortably or give him the same feel it had in recent races. As he considered the mount was exhibiting soreness he said he had not persisted in his riding from the vicinity to 200 metres.

R Stewart the rider of 5 Lucky And Wealthy (R Stewart) explained that his mount settled in a forward position and early in the race had travelled keenly despite the speed of the race. However he said mid race 5 Lucky And Wealthy had settled but from the 600 metres when the leader improved he had not been able to improve as he had desired and had been disappointed in the manner in which 5 Lucky And Wealthy had finished off the race.

VETERINARY:
1 Elderly Paradise (K H Yu)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has barrier trialed to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer M C Tam was also informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 29 December 2013.
2 Oakcrest Drive (A Calder)- A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was lame right foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Lucky And Wealthy (R Stewart)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
