Race Report

RACE-5 THE ARDROSS RATING 80+ (CLASS 1) 1200 METRES (151)

4 Lucky Jai (L Corrales) –In the straight was inclined to lay in under pressure.
5 Smiling Happy (K H Yu) –Raced wide throughout and approaching the finish was inconvenienced when taken in for several strides.
8 Dynasty Treasure (K W Leong) –From the 900 metres continued to race keenly and was restrained off heels.
9 Inventive (W L Ho) –Was slow to jump; Raced wide throughout the event and in the middle stages was inclined to raced keenly; At the entrance into the straight was inconvenienced; Inside the 100 metres was eased.

INQUIRY:
When questioned regarding his riding of 9 Inventive in this event Jockey W L Ho explained that he had been instructed to attempt to settle in a handy position if possible. He said that after jumping his mount took time to gather speed and he was able to fulfill these instructions making the turn out of the back straight although forced to race four wide. From the 400 metres his mount came under pressure and had not responded to his riding. He added that at this stage of its career 9 Inventive maybe better suited racing on sand. After considering this explanation and reviewing the official vision, Jockey W L Ho was advised his explanation would be noted and cautioned to ensure his riding did not invite query.
