Race Report

RACE-2 THE MR. PROSPECTOR 3&4-YO RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (155)

2 Golden Cornered (J Matthews) –In the vicinity of the 700 metres was hampered when obliged to race in restricted room inside runners.
3 Ruling Elite (C F Chan) – On jumping brushed with 8 Qiao Tou Win; In the vicinity of the 800 metres for some distance continued to be inconvenienced when brushed by 8 Qiao Tou Win to its inside laying out; Near the 700 metres was obliged to ease off heels momentarily.
7 Sunshine Blaze (L Corrales) –In the vicinity of the 400 for some distance was inclined to lay out.
8 Qiao Tou Win (C Perkins) –On jumping brushed with 4 Really Powerful; In the vicinity of the 800 metres was inclined to race greenly and shift about and approaching the 700 metres was awkwardly placed between runners;In the straight was inclined to lay out under pressure.
10 Hanigan (S G Cho) –In the early stages raced greenly and was inclined to lay out being reluctant to respond to its rider’s attempt to race close to the inside rail; In the straight was inclined to lay out under pressure.
11 Wine Buddies (K K Lai) –Jumped very awkwardly unbalancing its rider for several strides.
12 Happy Orchard (R Silvera) –In the early stages attempted to buck and ran to the outside. Trainer G W Moore was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances 3 Ruling Elite (C F Chan), 8 Qiao Tou Win (C Perkins) and 2 Golden Cornered (J Matthews) were tightened for room approaching the 700 metres. It was established that 3 Ruling Elite and 8 Qiao Tou Win had raced greenly to this point brushing with each other on a number of occasions, prior to 3 Ruling Elite being taken in by 6 Windsor Arch Four (R Curatolo) as it improved forward of that runner. The Stewards issued a severe reprimand to Jockey R Curatolo and advised him that in their opinion his mount had not been sufficiently clear of 3 Ruling Elite to shift inwards, however considered the racing manners of 3 Ruling Elite 3 and 8 Qiao Tou Win prior to the incident were mitigating factors in the matter.

Jockey C Perkins the rider of 8 Qiao Tou Win explained that his mount had been inclined to over race in running and after receiving some interference mid race had finished its race off fairly. He said that after riding 8 Qiao Tou Win at its initial win 2 starts ago, today’s run had confirmed his opinion that the horse would be better suited in longer races.

3 Ruling Elite (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Really Powerful (Apprentice C F Wong) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Best Jade Win (K W Leong –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
