Race Report

RACE-1 ELIZA PARK INTERNATINAL CHARITY CUP RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (240)

2 Laughing World (M Cangas) –Making the turn near the 1400 metres was taken wider;Raced wide throughout.
4 Red Rabbit (R Silvera) –Passing the winning post on the first occasion was obliged to ease away from heels and after being eased was taken wider; Near the 600 metres was inconvenienced when attempting to improve.
5 Sunshine Energy (C Perkins) –Inside the 1400 metres was obliged to steady off heels; Near the 500 metres became awkward for several strides.
6 Good Energy (L Corrales) –In the vicinity of the 1400 metres was inconvenienced when tightened for room.
8 Taiki Shuttle (W T Pao) –In the vicinity of the 1400 metres became unbalanced when tightened for room
9 Top Shooter (A Calder) –From inside the 1400 metres raced keenly for some distance.
11 Yu Long Success (K K Lai) –Making the turn near the 1400 metres was taken wider.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into interference to a number of runners passing the winning post on the first occasion. It was established that initially 7 Windsor Arch One (W L Ho) shifted in across the running of 4 Red Rabbit (R Silvera) which was obliged to ease off heels and shortly after 7 Windsor Arch One continued to shift in causing 6 Good Energy (L Corrales) to roll in onto 10 Cargo Money (C F Chan) tightening that horse onto 5 Sunshine Energy (C Perkins) resulting into those runners being inconvenienced. After considering the evidence the Stewards issued a severe reprimand to Jockey W L Ho who was having his first ride after a recently incurred suspension and advised the rider to in the future to give runners to his inside the room to which they entitled.

Jockey L Corrales the rider of 6 Good Energy explained that he had been instructed to settle in 4th, 5th or 6th if possible and to attempt to improve his position from the 600 metres. He stated that his mount had travelled well but when improving inside the 600 metres his mount was galloped on and thereafter took several strides to regain its balance before finishing the race fairly. Jockey L Corrales said that although the pace of the race had been moderate prior to the incident he considered his mount was in striking distance of the leaders.

VETERINARY:
6 Good Energy (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
